Sam Ashton (SH 47-53) wrote in with the following after the obituary in the January Bulletin.

William (Bill) Affleck.

“So far, I’ve only read the obituary of Bill Affleck, always known as ‘Silas’. On School House he was the opposite of silent; He and his contemporary Eddie Holmes were frequently to be heard in animated conversation usually to do with the events of the day in the sixth form. In my book these two were the brightest guys I ever met, and very original thinkers. One quote: Eddie dashed up to Silas exclaiming ‘I’ve got the answer to that physics question set by Bog (sic) Wall: it’s a square centimetre over a square second!’

What a stroke of luck that those photos of Silas at school have survived; exactly as I remember him.”
